The 9 to 5 Project

28 February 2010

Pretty soon a very different and unique project will be taking place here and across other blogs and facebook pages. It’s called The 9 to 5 Project. Each writer will write a minimum of 3 short pieces (short story, short description, poem, haiku, whatever they choose);  The Promise, The Dream, The Reality. At the end of each piece, each writer will link back to others taking part in the project, so anyone who stumbles upon it at any one place has the opportunity to see the perspectives of everyone participating.

In The Promise they will describe what they were told about life and work as youngsters. The promises they were told.

In The Dream they will describe what they dreamed life and work would be like after school, or starting out. The dreams they were sold and the dreams they created on their own.

In The Reality they will describe what they experienced of life, work, and the world. Was it The Dream? What was it?

If The Reality did not live up to The Dream, then the writer has one final piece.

In The Rediscovery the writer talks about what getting on the path to The Dream means to them.

It’s an exercise in self-reflection, honesty, and writing. It should be a lot of fun.

Life v2.5

That Was Then

If you’ve ever been here before, you’ll know that L337Projects was a lot of things, and absolutely nothing.

I hosted various web design and Photoshop related projects., poetry, and writings that I just had to share with the world. I linked interesting, insane, and funny things on the web like Maddox (very very very NSFW reading), The Whitest Kids You Know (moderately funny, moderately NSFW), and Gotapex (still one of the best places to find deals on the net). I also had a litany of half finished work cluttering up my brain space.

This Is Now

So what’s different?

1) Postings will actually be worth a damn for starters. Some of it will be my own opinions and advice. Some of it will be things to get you thinking.

2) The things you see here will have a greater level of interactivity than ever before in the history of this domain (I mean, going from a -10 to like 7 is something to write home about!).

3) Projects will be much more closely related to this website, that is-L337 (netspeak for awesome). Will there still be web design type stuff going on? Sure will. A born sculptor doesn’t just decide to stop sculpting and become a professional football player because they couldn’t find their muse, right? Right.

So that’s that. Drop me a line, enjoy yourself, and hopefully you’ll soak up some knowledge while you’re here.
